You don’t have to use AI for everything, but you can’t afford to ignore it. The future will be defined by those who treat AI as infrastructure, not experiment.
If you’re not actively thinking about how every part of your business could be shaped by—or at least supported by—AI, then you’re not thinking about the right things.
It no longer matters what you personally think about AI. It doesn’t matter if it makes you uneasy. It doesn’t matter if you disagree with it, don’t understand it, or don’t want to. While you’re deciding how you feel, billions are being poured into training larger, faster models. Data centers are going up. Power grids are being expanded. The infrastructure of the future is already being laid.
You can choose to stand still. You can even brand yourself as proudly analog. But your competitors won’t. They’ll use AI to move with speed, scale, and precision—and they’ll come for your market share.
The reality is that AI is quickly becoming a utility. Not a utility like the internet. A utility like electricity. Can you imagine a company saying they don’t use electricity? That’s where we’re headed. AI will soon power nearly every business quietly, behind the scenes.
This doesn’t mean you have to use AI for everything. If you’re a writer and don’t want AI to write for you, fine. If you’re a coder and don’t want AI to code for you, that’s fine too. But find the tasks you don’t want to do—and use AI to do them faster, better, and more accurately.
Start small. Empower your teams to experiment safely. Create an AI Council. Draft an AI Policy. Identify use cases and document the results. What worked? What didn’t? Did you save time? Improve accuracy? Unlock new ideas?
Double down on what delivers value, and let go of what doesn’t. But don’t wait. Use AI every day. Experiment. Learn. Move forward. Because everyone else already is.
